Deer Park is the second most populous hamlet in the Town of Babylon, with a population of 26,043 and 6.2 miles long. It is approximately 42 miles from New York City. The Deer Park school district is a highly rated school district and the most diverse hamlet in the town of Babylon.

History

Deer Park was established in the late 1600s, as part of Huntington South. Because Deer Park is known to be excellent for growing dahlias and fruits, in celebration of its agricultural industries, they hold annual dahlia festivals. The Long Island Railroad arrived in Deer Park in 1842, establishing the first railroad station in the town of Babylon. In 1872, itis reported that Deer Park consisted of one store, a one-room schoolhouse, and about a dozen homes.
